"Adopting the approach of symbolic interactionism the book first comments on the application of this theoretical perspective to the fields of deviance and sexuality in general. From this the author moves to a preliminary interactionist theory of sexual differentiation (...) from child molesting to fetishism. He continues with a detailed, humanistic case study of male homosexuality in the contemporary world, focusing upon the creation of hostile reactions, the process of becoming a homosexual, the construction of homosexual sub-cultures and the daily problems of interaction for the homosexual.
