The aim of this study is to investigate whether stigmatization of adolescents between 13 and 18 years born in planned lesbian families in the Netherlands is associated to internalizing and externalizing problem behavior, and if the self-esteem of these adolescents moderates this relationship. Cross-sectional data were collected by questionnaires filled out by 69 adolescents. The adolescents of the sample generally reported low levels of stigmatization and problem behavior and a high self-esteem. For the analysis two hierarchical linear regression analyzes were used with internalizing and externalizing problem behavior as the dependent variables. Results revealed that the participating adolescents who reported a higher degree of stigmatization, show more internalizing and externalizing problem behaviors than adolescents
