Nastol'naya knyha dlya zhenshchyn : seksualnoe zdorov'e (= Handbook for women : sexual health)

L. Geydar, Y. Semenova

This publication is intended primarily for the lesbian community leaders, social workers, specialists - for everyone who works for lesbian groups and LGBT organizations so that they can motivate the audience of lesbians and bisexual women to a healthy lifestyle, conduct group health as well as training on women's sexual health. Lesbians, as well as women who have sex with women, is not particularly visible in the discourse on HIV / STDs, because society believes that lesbians are not at risk of infection. It is a mistake to believe that lesbians are isolated from the world community, as among women who identify themselves as lesbian, there are women with bisexual behavior, sex workers, transgender people and injecting drug users. All these factors increase the risk of infection. Stereotypes and clichés prevalent in society in relation to WSW, does not allow us to estimate the real risk of HIV infection. Thus, women who have sex with women are not considered by the Ministry of Health of Ukraine as vulnerable to HIV / STI Group, which is not surprising, because in Ukraine there are no studies on similar subjects. As a result of the foregoing, for WSW are no prevention programs, are without information about safe sex, as well as without consulting experts.
