In 1966, Genet's most ambitious framatic work, The Screens, was stages in Paris by the Jean-Louis Barault-Madeleine Renaud Company. The production was directed by Roger Blin, one of Europe's most respected actors and directors. During the several months of rehearsals, Genet wrote a series of letters and notes to Roger Blin giving his views on every aspect of the staging of The Screens.
