Lorca's letters, with those of Keats and Hart Crane, are amongst the great documents we have of the artistic and personal development of a major poet, and as the editor of the present selection suggests, they provide 'a much more intimate portrait than any biographer acheives'. We get a vivid portrait of Lorca's relationships with his Spanish contemporaries as he was a memeber of one of the most brilliant groups of poets in Europe, the Generation of '27'.
