The book's images are drawn from a variety of sources, including sepia postcards of the late 19th and early 20th century amateur snapshots from the turn of the century through to the 1950s, "physique pictorial"-style photos of bodybuilders, professional silver prints and a few color prints; and in their varied provenance and different styles, they provide an intriguing cultural history of men and the pride they take in their bodies.
