The Gender Bazaar : Feminine/Masculine in the Mediterranean

This book accompanies one of the two large opening exhibitions at MuCEM in Marseille, which questions the gender order. Echoing one of the biggest issues of today's society, the book questions the multiple ways of being male or female in the Mediterranean area. Anthropological artifacts, photographs and contemporary art redraw the contours of a gender order upset: demographic change and fertility control, claims brought by women or sexual minorities, rituals, norms and new models, relationships, life, film and literary representations.
