Transvestitism through the compared traditions of the Albanian sworn virgins and the native North American Navajo nadle

This paper discusses two groups, the Albanian sworn virgins and the berdaches (called nadle in Navajo) of the Navajo tribes, in which tranvestitism is a natural occurence that is beneficial to the overall community as well as the fact that they are accepted, if not revered in their respective society. For the berdaches the focus is on males.
