Kerr has collected twenty-one articles in this collection, twelve of which are drawn from previous publications (spanning 1972 through 2005) and nine of which have been commissioned especially for this venue. This volume starts with the foundational theatrical examples that represent the struggle to define gay and lesbian sexual identities that began in the 1960s in Canada. Kerr has selected the articles to get at some kind of overview of where Canadian queer theatre is today and how it is arrived at.
