Predictors of depression among persons with HIV infection

Paper presented at the VII International Conference on AIDS, Florence, Italy. This paper presents a study in which 142 HIV+ patients (80% gay or bisexual men) were identified as highly depressed or less depressed based on CES-D scores. The study attempted to help determine whether significant levels of depression existed and to clarify the relationship between depression and social support, health locus of control attributions, stage illness, and substance use.
