When we had other names

G. Tindall

Jane had come to Paris that spring to study at the Sorbonne and made friends with the artist Clôche, but she was not emotionally involved until she met Vincent Lébert, older and a successful journalist and artist. All that summer was lighted with love, until the arrival of Stephen, a young Englishman whom Jane had been asked to shepherd along in Paris. Sensitive, artistic Stephen worshiped Vincent, his art, his opinions. Stephen became their constant companion ... then Vincent's protége ... and then, to Jane's horror, something very much more.
