T. Doremus
The young Hector, the son of an impoverished widow, is "adopted" by a rich and sociable couple, Bill and Mary. Mary's company he enjoys; Bill he despises slightly to begin wit, but it is towards Bill that he is gradually drawn. The relationship develops, through ambiguity into love: a love at first resentful, in wich the boy later has to shoulder responsibilities beyond the strength of most adults.
