Ambrose Groden, at he age of 45 is slowly realizing that he is a failure. Ambrose is fortunate enough to be taken to an idealistic paragon of modern medicine, the young psychiatrist, Dr. Richard Beaucock. Thus the most advanced techniques of enlightment and healing, are all offered to Ambrose Groden and offered for free. Ambrose turns out to be rather hard to change, much less reform, but how he and Dr. Beaucock achieve their mutual destinies is the story of this novel.
