Quicksilver
F. Davis
This is a novel about a Shakesperean troup, supposedly based on Katherine Cornell's in the 30s. It tells the story of a tour of Romeo and Juliet and is based on solid personal knowledge, though this may only partly explain the success of the novel, which was on the New York Times Best Seller list for four weeks. There are several gay characters in the book, including the leading actress. Thus the novel was thought to contain revelations about Katharine Cornell's lesbian activity during her tour with Shakespeare's play.
