
Queer ideologies and activism : the difference between equal rights and social realities in heteronormative"gay-friendly" Dutch society

This research project questions the relationship between equal rights and social realities for queer people in the Netherlands. It explores the short falls of gay rights laws to completely quarantee equality for those who deviate from all gender and sexuality norms of Dutch culture. It documents the opinions of members of queer communities in Amsterdam regarding social equality, dutch tolerance, social activism and what a queer society might look like. Semi-structured interviews were conducted by means of snow ball sampling. 4 interviews were conducted, among them with Gert Hekma and Puck Verdoes.
