In the Netherlands, transsexual adolescents are given medical treatment by the Vrije Universiteit gender team according to specific age requirements listed in the Standards of Care, a set of guideliness written by an international transgender health committee. Nine transsexuals living in the Netherlands who transitioned or are transitioning as adolescents were interviewed to determined their views of the age requirements.
