Gay muslims call for unity after attacks
B. Townley
A group representing LGBT Muslims in the UK has hit back at criticisms of Islam, and warned members of the gay community not to suffer divisions in the wake of the London bombings. Imaan has released a statement calling for unity within the LGBT community and the British people as a whole, warning that some coverage of the July 7th bombings have failed to draw distinction between Islam and terrorism. They have also hit back at the Gay and Lesbian Humanist Association, which issued a press release last month urging for a ban on controversial cleric Dr Yusuf al-Qaradawi.
