What I Did For Love : Temporary Returns to the Male Gender Role

A person who has happily lived as a woman for 12 years and her therapist of five years discuss the situation that led to a series of returns to the male gender role. In 1991, when the patient informed his wife that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with her as a woman, she gracefully accommodated him. Years later, the patient presented himself as a male when his wife_s career required this. In doing so, the patient was able to more deeply understand the meaning and the mutual obligations of love. By thinking of it as a gift of love, the impossible was accomplished with ease and pride. The patient and wife are once again living full time as women.
