The Ontario Court of Appeal has declared that banning same-sex marriage is unconstitutional and ordered Toronto's City Hall to immediately issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples requesting them; a court of appeals in British Columbia has made a similar decision (although allowed the provincial government time to effect the change); the federal government is reported to be considering an appeal of these decisions.
