The "Violence against lesbians" project aims to make violence against lesbians visible, which requires first making lesbians visible; in 2001, the project started a poster campaign designed to challenge stereotypes and prejudices about lesbians. The project also surveyed counselling organisations and police in Austria, Belgium and Germany and discovered a high level of ignorance about lesbian life and needs.
