In 2019 Háttér Archive and Library in Hungary, together with Nomantinels divadlo in Slovakia, Post Bellum in the Czech Republic, ERA in Serbia and the Merlinka Festival started a large-scale international project on the history of LGBTQI people in Central and Eastern Europe from the mid-19th century to the 2010s. The exhibition was put together as part of the project. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the exhibition was first held in an online version (https://queermemory.eu ; in English as well as Hungarian). In September 2021 the exhibition was held in physical form in Budapest.
