Quando eravamo froci : Gli omosessuali nell'Italia di una volta
A. Pini, N. Aspesi
Stigmatized and thrown on the front pages of newspapers, insulted, mocked and beaten out of contempt or for the simple taste of abuse, pushed into the police cell phones and transferred to the police station to be classified. This and much more could happen to homosexuals in Italy, opposed by a widespread common sense, which was encouraged by Catholic morality and not opposed by the "progressive" leftist one. "When we were fagots" takes us back to years of the good life, when life for gay people was anything but cheerful. As clandestine they looked for each other and recognized themselves by rapid and furtive glances. They met and hit the "males" in free exit from the barracks and from the family, mated furiously in the toilets or in the most secluded rows of the local cinemas. These were the conditions in which, until the sixties, homosexuals lived and practiced their sexuality, even managing to conquer limited spaces of happiness. Before the future gay movement was formed with the opening of glimpses of freedom and the embryonic claim of their rights. Andrea Pini reconstructs with historical photos and interviews with protagonists and direct witnesses a historical period of the homosexual condition, and at the same time denounces the cynical and oppressive attitude of the surrounding society. Preface by Natalia Aspesi.
