Two Sides to Every Coin
S. Meier
Abstract: The concept of gender can be very confusing. For some, the idea of anything other than male/man or female/woman is incomprehensible. For others, gender is seen as a spectrum where individuals flow between man, woman, or somewhere in between. Most are somewhere in between where it is recognized that two sexes and two genders exist with a little leeway room for variances. The ideology of oppositions is known as the gender binary, where all people must fit into one of two categories: man or woman. In this paper, it will be an attempt to that rather than a binary, I understand gender as a spectrum due to the existence of more than two identities on a biological, social, and psychological level.
