The story takes place at the end of the nineteenth century in London, a period of lamentable moral repression. Lord Thomas Baker finds himself alone in his home because his wife left for several weeks to her French family. Going to his club, he meets Michael Abboth, who tells him that in the depths of the London fog, at night, sometimes comes a mysterious vehicle, the Love Cab. Two women occupy it, one leads and the other lavishes the most exquisite caresses.
