Although the subject of homosexuality has received widespread attention in the United States, the spotlight has been focused primarily on the male invert. Attracting less public notice, but equally important and challenging to society, is the large group of women who have turned to other women for love and sexual expression. Who are these woman, how many of them are there, what are their characteristics, and what are the problems they confront in life? What are their relationships with their parents, with their lovers, with the society in which they live, and with themselves?
