Gay movies

A selected list of movies in which gay male characters and themes are central to the story, or have important supporting parts. Each film has a one to three lines summary and some have an indication by the authors of being particularly enjoyable or significant. Most of the films are in English. Some of the earlier films contain characterizations that might be considered stereotypical or offensive today, but are important to gain an historical perspective on the changing perceptions toward gays.
