Analytical note : Situation of Transsexual People in the Russian Regions: Document Change and Access to Specific Health Care Service

This publication offers analysis of the conditions in which a corresponding law enforcement practice emerges, i.e. standards of international law and provisions of the Russian legislation. Herewith, three main factors are identified: general prohibition on discrimination on ground of gender identity; regulation of procedure for change documents, gender marker and name of transsexual people; and ensuring accessibility of medical services that are necessary for transsexual people.
